Fun and Fast ride with Bianchi’s special creations for Fico Eataly World in Bologna

This was our second visit to FICO Eataly World in Bologna and this time we decided to explore the park by using their special bikes. Yes, FICO Eataly World of Bologna provides free shopping tricycles created exclusively for them by the “Bianchi” Cycle Company.

Fico Bologna

How to get the free bicycles at FICO Bologna?

Just next to the reception at the main entrance to Fico Eataly World, there is a special desk for bicycle registrations. Here you need to register yourself with a valid document to receive the keys. Minors need parents’ authorization and they must be 150 cm tall. The documents will be given back upon return. The bikes are numbered and they gave us 2 keys per bike, one with a black tag and one with a red tag.

Where do we get our bikes once we are registered?

Once we got the keys from the reception desk, we went out of the entrance where all the bikes are parked. We identified our numbers and thenused the black key to detach the bike from the rack. That black key then remained attached, while the red one was needed to lock the bike in case we had to stop somewhere along the way. If you find any damages, report it immediately at the registration desk because otherwise you might find yourself paying for this later.

How to find your way with the bike?

During the registration procedure, you can request a cycle map. This is really helpful because cycling inside the Fico Eataly World in Bologna is permitted only in certain areas. Within the FICO Eataly World premises, there are many bike racks where you can leave the bicycle locked with the red key if you want to stop for awhile.

Why would you want a bike in FICO Bologna?

Don’t forget that FICO Eataly World of Bologna is a massive complex with both outdoor and indoor areas, so exploring it by bicycle allows you to see it entirely. It is a pretty good option especially for those short ontime. The bikes have one front and one back cart where you can carry the items you have bought. Unlike the other tricycles that I have seen around, these have two wheels in front and only one wheel in the back, which is destabilizing at first. But once you understand the system it becomes fun and fast.

Where do we return the free Bicycle?

At the end of your visit, you have to leave the bicycle at the same place from where you picked it up and put the bike on its rack with the black key which then can be removed. Now you have to return to the registration desk to hand back the keys: the red and the black one. Your documents will be given back at this stage.

Want to take the Tricycle back home?

If you liked the FICO Italy World Shopping bike and if you strongly believe that it would be helpful for your daily life once back at home, you can buy it at the “Bianchi” Cycle Shop located inside the Fico Eataly World. It costs only € 1550.00 with the two baskets and €1350.00 without. Once you buy a bike it can be sent home easily. Fico, in fact, has installed the Italian post office just after the checkout area so that tourists can have their items shipped to their hometowns.

I love the idea of this! We're in Veneto half the year, but when we go back to Bologna I want to visit Eataly! I'd want to keep the bike too!

Those bikes are so functional and adorable! Our city just started a bike program a bit like this. I'm interested to see more cities catching on.

I've never seen anyone bike through a shop. I would love to visit here at least once. I'm sure all of the food is amazing. I believe I have ordered some Panatone bread from Eatialy before though.

I have not seen anything like this. However, I would rather spend my time walking around there.

Wow!I love the idea of the bicycles. Bianchi makes road bikes that a lot of my bicyle/road bike friends ride. I wish we had these kinds of bikes out here in Los Angeles!
