Modena – Accommodation, Agriturismo Opera 02

Food, wine, accommodation, and more
One day a friend of mine was sharing a wine tasting event at the Opera 02 Restaurant in Castelvetro di Modena, a town very close to the place where I currently live (Fiorano Modenese).
I had already been to their restaurant a couple of times but hadn’t known that they arranged these kinds of activities. Let’s say that I always heard about the wine tasting in Tuscany, but hadn’t realized that Modena is slowly starting to come up with wine and food pairing programs much appreciated by tourists.
By now I’m sure you already know that I love wine, and since the event was taking place in a town very close to mine, I thought I should give it a try.
Plus when I’d previously gone to this place for dinner I had never been able to capture the best of its beauty. Since I saw online that Opera 02 is located in an amazing setting I had promised myself that I’d return during the day time. So here we go! The right moment to spend some time in a wonderful place has finally arrived.
In addition to all these reasons, I have to add that I’d tried their Malbo wine during my last dinner there with Alessandro, which by the way I liked a lot, so I thought why not try the other types as well?

In fact, the moment I stepped out of the car I realized that the spectacular photos I saw online were real: the views were breathtaking, the vineyards and the rolling hills surrounding Opera 02 give it an additional touch. I’m sure this place becomes a must especially in autumn when the surrounding grapevines turns red or yellow.
The winery tour with the owner’s son was interesting; he gave us some information about the production.
They produce three types of wines, two of which are Lambrusco (sparkling red wine). The wine factory at Opera 02 is very small and they produce only organic wines, which means that they don’t use chemical additives. They do export wine abroad, but still their market is not ample. At the moment, they only supply to Russia, the United States and Japan. The difficulty in reaching more countries seems due to the high price; especially when it comes to Lambrusco. People hardly pay 40 Euros per bottle, (retail price) because it is not well known outside of Modena.
This is of course is a big obstacle and this price barrier could be really a very big problem when it comes to Lambrusco. They are handling it better with the Malbo one.

Opera 02 in Castelvetro di Modena also offers hotel services.Tthey have eight modernly furnished rooms facing the traditional balsamic vinegar cellar. So Not only the attractive setting, but also the style of the contemporary decor and the pool vanishing into the vineyards will make your visit truly pleasant.
Opera 02 is just 15 minutes’ drive from Modena and 10 minutes’ drive from Maranello, so definitely worth a visit if you are up to the Ferrari Museum.

I love Lambrusco! Indeed is considered as a cheap wine in Italy, but I believe there are some special bottles like these ones!
