We booked a room at B&B Villa del Lago for our after-lockdown escape. It was absolutely perfect! We were lucky enough to find this place only a little more than an hour’s drive from us at a not exaggerated price.

The views were astounding, and we loved the furnished cozy rooms and the breakfast outside on the patio or in the garden. These along with the dinner in the lake house in the large living room with a fireplace are just incredible! We already are planning our next trip back.

B&B Villa del Lago is a splendid Tuscan villa located by the shores of Bilancino Lake, a short distance from the Barberino outlet and Mugello Circuit Racetrack. All the rooms are on the first floor, from where you can marvel at the wonderful surrounding nature formed by rolling mountains and the calm waters of the Bilancino Lake. These landscapes really will take your breath away. Sitting by the lake shore and dipping your feet into the water, wandering around the glistening fresh-water loch, or venturing out into the wilderness to see if you can catch some animals like row deer are some of the things that add even more of a sense of tranquillity and peace to your stay.

Most travelers come here with cars, as they are already on a road trip in Italy. In any case, let me say that the B&B Villa del Lago in Barberino is easily reached by road and many of the area main attractions require a short drive. So, this place is perfectly suitable for those road tripping in Italy. It could be a bit harder for those travelling in Italy by public transport.

B&B Villa del Lago is owned and managed by Simone and Roberto. Simone is the one who mainly takes care of the guests, and from what I understand, Roberto manages the administrative side. He also manages many other activities, so you hardly find him at the B&B Villa del Lago in Barberino.

It went differently in our case. We saw him often; probably because it was a weekend.

Both the owners are interesting people who are very genuine and fun to talk with. At the same time, they gave me the impression that they know how to respect your privacy in case you want to be left alone. Alessandro and I were coming from a long period of Covid 19 lockdown in Italy and we couldn’t wait to finally be with people so we really appreciated the long chats.

Dining and drinking options are available here at the lake house accommodation in Tuscany. When it comes to drinks they don’t serve cocktails, but they have wines of great value by local producers. If you are a wine lover then you should definitely have a glass of it in their garden overlooking the lake.

Regarding the dining option at the lake house accommodation in Tuscany, meals are cooked by Simone. He serves casual Tuscan food at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Once he used to own a restaurant in Florence, so you can trust him with closed eyes. Since it is a home restaurant, of course the menu is quite small with only a few dish options, but it is delicious. I highly recommend that you try it. Because whether it’s winter or summer, dining in the villa’s hall is really charming. I appreciated my dinners a lot.

Remember that you have to order it hours before so that they can prepare it for you.

B&B Villa del Lago lake house accommodation in Barberino offers 4 rooms, all on the first floor of the villa. They are cosy but clean with everything you need. In every room there is a small TV and a small closet. Bathrooms are bright but unmemorable, with shower, small sink, and hairdryer. Basic toiletries are also provided.

WiFi is everywhere in the villa but not in the garden and surrounding area.

The view from the rooms is something very special, but what makes this place even more special is the climbing ivy that covers the entire villa which is green during the summer and turns red during the fall season. If you are looking for an instagrammable place in Barberino, then this is perfect for your clicks.

We had a wonderful stay at B&B Villa del Lago lake house accommodation in Barberino. It was relaxing and that is exactly what we were looking for. We wanted to escape for a while from our city the day the Italian government eased the Covid 19 restrictions. We just wanted to breathe the air of freedom and here we received it all!
