Since I’m a travel blogger based in Modena, it strikes me as impossible to not write about the Osteria Francescana. So here we go, let me tell you something about the world’s number one restaurant located right here in the city where I live.
Osteria Francescana is a three-Michelin-star small restaurant in the city centre of Modena and it has been chosen as number one on the world’s 50 Best Restaurants list first in the year 2016 and again in 2018.
Even though in 2019 the first position of Massimo Bottura’s Osteria Francescana has been replaced with a restaurant in Menton, France called Mirazur, Osteria Francescana doesn’t fail to attract tourists from all over the world.
A brief note: What is The World’s 50 Best Restaurants?
Massimo Bottura and His wife Lara Gilmore at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018
The World’s Best 50 Restaurants is an annual ranking event of the fifty best restaurants in the World. The list is produced by the British magazine Restaurant and it is based on a poll of international chefs, restaurateurs, gourmands, and restaurant critics. The list showcases a variety of cuisines from all over the world and since it works as a barometer of global gastronomic trends, it’s characterized both by the meticulous preparation and careful presentation of food.
The World’s Best 50 Restaurants annual event was suspended in 2020 due to the Covid 19 pandemic and a new date is already scheduled for 2021: 5th October.
