Marrakesh, Accommodation Review, Riad Star + VIDEO

Who doesn’t want to stay in a Riad? It’s so beautiful, it’s so elegant, and it’s truly a unique work of a art. Whenever I plan a trip to Morocco, I always book all my nights in these so-called Riads and believe me, that is the best thing one can do for a vacation in Morocco! This time, during my visit to Marrakesh, I stayed in Riad Star.
Alessandro and I were travelling to Marrakesh for a long weekend holiday. We didn’t have too many plans, except for strolling around the medina, enjoying life at Jama El Fna square, and experiencing our beautiful Riad in Marrakesh at its fullest.
Customer Service at Riad Star

From the moment we stepped into our Riad in Marrakesh, what immediately came to our attention was the customer service. At Riad Star in Marrakesh they have a refined way of serving the customers. Riad Star, in fact, was particularly attentive and set on giving a perfect stay to their guests.
When we reached our riad in Marrakesh, it was around 11 am and Ali, the manager, welcomed us with a Moroccan mint tea.

While we were having our tea, Ali completed our check-in procedure. We were given a map and a cell phone with a local sim card. Ali’s number was already registered in it and we could call him at any time during our stay in Marrakesh. I’ve been travelling since I was very small and to be honest, this was the first time that I was given a phone for any possible inconvenience. I greatly valued this service. Considering that it’s very easy to get lost in the medina of Marrakesh this service could really come in handy. I don’t want to forget to say that Riad Star also provided a free app in which we found all their suggestions for things to do in Marrakesh: it was just perfect because it also worked offline. Don’t forget to download it!
In a country like Morocco, which has a totally different lifestyle, these little attentions to detail matter a lot, it made us feel safe.
Riad Star: Interior Design and Architecture.

Even though it has the basic shape of a Riad, Riad Star presents itself in a very modern way. I mean unlike all the other Riads in town, Riad Star has been restored recently with traditional materials, but at the same time it offers some facilities and retreats which give it a contemporary look and feel.
Riad Star is themed around Josephine Baker, the singer, actress, heroine of the French resistance, and civil rights pioneer who once lived in Marrakesh.

This stunning Art Deco Riad in Marrakesh can accommodate up to 38 guests in thirteen luxury rooms. Each room is individually and richly decorated. Complete with a spa, a Hammam
(traditional bath), an indoor dipping pool, and a fantastic terrace with a fireplace, this riad in Marrakesh makes for a really pleasant stay.
Riad Star: Background

Riad Star is part of Marrakesh Riad group. Fifteen years ago, the owners Mike and Lucy Wood, an English couple, began their hospitality project in Marrakesh. Today they offer three beautiful boutique hotels in Marrakesh, each with its own distinctive personality, and all within a short walk from the folkloric Jemma El Fna Square. Riad Cinnamon, Riad Spice, and Riad Star. Having clearly understood the concept of hospitality, Mike and Lucy Wood have studied all forms of welcoming, in order to make the tourists comfortable.
Dining at Riad Star.

One more reason why I recommend that you stay in Riad Star is certainly their home-cooked food. Meals inspired by fresh items from the medina’s market are prepared and served on the terrace, in the sitting rooms, or near the dipping pool. In our case, since it was winter, we had both dinner and lunch in the sitting room which had patio heaters. Delicious meals are freshly and individually prepared to your taste and served at any time of your choice.
Although we didn’t try it, the Marrakesh riad circuit organizes Moroccan cookery courses from 2 pm to 6 pm. It starts with a visit to a local market where you buy the ingredients and it ends with eating the food you have prepared.
Riad Star, summing up
*DISCLAIMER: Thanks to “Riad Star” for sponsoring my stay! Although, I was a guest, all opinions are my own.

Staying at Riad Star in Marrakesh was a unique experience since besides the modern architecture, I do believe that they offer a higher level of hospitality which mainly focuses on fine and elegant customer service.
An attentive staff, especially Ali, always on hand to help, made our stay memorable. Moreover, their attentions toward the guests would be incredibly helpful for people of a certain age which I feel pretty confident in suggesting.
And… before I end this post about this modernly furnished Riad in Marrakesh I also want to say that we were given some traditional dresses for our photos, which as you can see here, I obviously used.

wow I love small boutique hotels which often give greater attention to customer service with all the little details you don't get at the large international chains. I would definitely consider this hotel when I get to Morocco.

Ok. I'm sold. I'm writing this Riad in my notes for Morocco. You were given a phone with a local SIM? How very thoughtful of them! Seriously, I've noted this riad for when I experience Marrakesh! Beautiful!
