Enna, Accommodation Review, La Casa Sulla Roccia

Have you ever been to Enna? Many don’t include Enna on their Sicilian Road trip, especially first timers to Sicily, but this city is special for its own reasons. Being outside of the massive tourist life in Sicily, Enna offers an authentic and genuine experience.

Actually, Enna has recently begun its journey towards tourism. Many off-the-beaten-path lovers are starting to explore this town which for years has been forgotten, so several hotels are emerging in its beautiful historical center.

This time our trip to Sicily started in Enna, a city right in the centre of Sicily. We stayed in an old farmhouse located only 4 kilometres away from the old city centre of Enna: La Casa Sulla Roccia (house on the rock).

Our flight from Bologna to Catania got delayed two hours so we reached Enna very late: at 11 pm. Upon arrival to the farmhouse, Giorgia, a well-dressed cute girl in her 20s, was waiting for us to complete the check-in procedure.

As it was getting really late, we did our check-in as fast as we could and immediately left for dinner. Sadly, we didn’t have much time to chat with her or to look around because we were risking sleeping on an empty stomach, and we I didn’t want that for our first day in Sicily!

Exactly for this reason, we didn’t realize how beautiful the surroundings were. Only when we came back to the cottage after dinner did we see how the location was so unique, which we could see much better the day after with the sunlight.

La Casa Sulla Roccia is a country house placed on a big rock, which is why it’s called Casa Sulla Roccia: House on the rock. Once you enter the property, you’ll find yourself surrounded only by nature.

I’m a nature lover and because of that I can say that La Casa Sulla Roccia B&B in Enna is one of the best places that I’ve stayed in Italy. Lost in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by the rolling hills, it offered more than my expectations. La Casa Sulla Roccia is uniquely awesome!!!

The spectacular town of Calacibetta located nearby gives an even more magical touch to the place, both in the night and the day. The photos we had seen previously online didn’t give justice to the reality of the cottage and its surroundings.

It was so nice spending the evenings sitting on the porch (having a barbecue or drinking a glass of wine) and seeing the sun setting over the hills. This is definitely the highlight of this beautiful B&B in Enna.

La Casa Sulla Roccia, Interior.

The interior of La Casa Sulla Roccia is very simple. It is furnished in a tasteful way following the Italian farmhouse style. The kitchen, the hall, and the bathroom are on the ground floor, while the bedroom is in the loft.

The house is fully equipped. It is truly an ideal solution for a staycation in Enna. It’s a place where you can go to enjoy the silence and nature.

There are a couple of donkeys and goats on the property, and this gives an additional touch to the environment of the farmhouse. I actually enjoyed my time with them.

Guys, there is something I need to tell you: The time we were at this B&B in Enna there was no Wi-Fi or TV at the property. For us that was not a big deal. But it’s also true that having an Italian mobile number, we had internet on our phone. Well, if you really want it, double check with the owners upon reservation.

Conclusion.

Now, La Casa Sulla Roccia in Enna is an ideal place to enjoy nature, so what you need to know is that’s the main reason to go there. Know also that since there is nothing around, you will need to use your car for everything.

That been said, if you love nature as much as I do, then I recommend this B&B in Enna for all ages. Adults and children will just adore this location.

Something else that I don’t want to forget is that unlike all the other cities in Sicily, winter can be incredibly crazy in Enna. Fog, snow, and wind could potentially ruin your stay at this B&B in Enna. You need to decide for yourself. I would go anyway!
